What the FAQ is The Table?
The WWWWW+H of what’s going on here.
Who, When, Where?
The Table is an arts mag based in Nashville, Tennessee made by contributors, for everyone, with a focus on our local community. That said, just like when a dear friend visits from out of town, guests are welcome to the party.
Issues are printed quarterly, with themes that guide each season and “columns” to the tune of a traditional newspaper that pair to create loose prompts for interested parties. (See: 00.0 | Sports featuring the short story Groundskeeper by M. Pearl; or, 00.0 | Obituaries featuring poetry and photos from Claire Maisto.)
Release day events are hosted at THE GREEN RAY, where you can find contributor readings with Q+A to follow, complimentary beverages to sip, and copies of past and current issues available for purchase. (Word to the wise: if this is your first time hearing of TGR, go there. If it isn’t, go there. Ya know?)
Follow us here on Substack to stay updated for upcoming events — it’s a lovely way to spend an evening.
Why, What, How?
The Table’s inception came about in the same way many creative projects find their form: through conversations with friends.
In August of 2025, I sat outside of Cafe Roze with Miller (00.0 | Lost & Found) talking about what we were writing and how — as much as we wanted to put more out there — there didn’t quite feel like a proper venue for it.
We both knew so many people who walked around with secret worlds brewing inside of them that only bubbled to the surface during dinner parties or coffee dates… and then ended in a simmer when no one could figure out what to do with all their dreams in the end.
This question rang like a bell: How do we get all of these great conversations, practices, and ideas out of the dining room and into the world at large?
Thus, The Table was born.
It’s a place to share what you’re working on, what you’re thinking about, what you have done, and what you will do. Simply put, it’s a way to stop sitting in the world alone and start making a new one with others.
